The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly signed Charley Hughlett to a one-year deal for $1.422 million. The contract breakdown is as follows: $467,500 guaranteed, $167,500 signing bonus, salary $1.255 million ($300,000 fully guaranteed) per Aaron Wilson.

Hughlett, 34 years old, has played for Cleveland since 2014 and was one of their longer-tenured players having played in 152 games. He was limited to 5 games last season due to a rib injury. The Eagles hope he will perform as well as he has over the previous decade.

Reliable Rick Lovato did not get extended, which was initially surprising, but as this lingered, it started to appear that he and the Eagles would be parting ways. Charley will have big shoes to fill. Lovato is a player who has never had his name called for any reason, and as a long snapper, that is a great thing. The Eagles have enjoyed over a decade of excellence from the position transitioning from Jon Dornebos to Rick. Hughlett only being signed to a one-year deal, could indicate they have other plans at the position moving forward.
