The Phillies announced on Thursday that Jimmy Rollins will be joining Ed Wade in being named to the team’s iconic Wall of Fame later this year.
Phillies to induct Rollins & Wade to Wall of Fame
Rollins will go down as one of the greatest Phillies of his generation, as a former NL MVP, a 3x All-Star, and a 4-time winner of the Golden Glove Award. He played a key role in the remarkable 2008 World Series run and was a fan favorite throughout his career. His place in team history was already immortalized after the iconic World Series win, but this kind of recognition will feel incredibly special to Rollins, who played for Philadelphia from 2000-2014.
J-Roll is still the Phillies’ all-time leader in Hits and remains one of only four players to this day to have notched the infamous 20-20-20-20 season.
Ed Wade will also see his name etched onto the Wall of Fame. He helped lay the foundations for the Phillies team that would go on to win the World Series, hiring Charlie Manuel as manager, and bringing in the likes of Chase Utley, Shane Victorino, and Rollins himself.
The pair will be honored on August 1st when the Phils play host to the Detroit Tigers.
