According to an official announcement from the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles are bolstering their secondary with the addition of Adoree Jackson. The move comes after a difficult few days that saw both Isaiah Rodgers and Darius Slay leave in free agency.
Eagles sign Adoree Jackson
Jackson will come into Philadelphia as a 29 year old cornerback who can mentor the younger guys. As a former first-round selection himself, he knows what it takes to sustain a career in this league and maintain a reputation as a starting cornerback.
The USC product started out his career with the Tennessee Titans before taking his talents to New York, where he would face off against the Eagles twice a season in the NFC East for the next four years.
While he only started in 5 games last season, Jackson allowed 18 receptions on 33 targets for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns. Although it was a smaller sample size than years past, it was actually a career-low for the 5’11 DB in terms of opposing completion percentage when targeted (48%).
Following in the footsteps of Saquon Barkley, who left the Giants to join their divisional rival last offseason, Jackson joins a team who have often been linked to his services. While it’s unclear whether or not he will be starting in 2025, the move at least provides some proven depth along with competition for Kelee Ringo when it comes to that #2 spot opposite rookie sensation, Quinyon Mitchell.
