The Philadelphia Eagles are intending to bring back former UDFA Ben VanSumeren, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

VanSumeren has now spent two years in the City of Brotherly Love and has largely been a special teams ace, playing in over 74% of ST snaps in both seasons. However, 2024 saw him not only take on some defensive duties in a pinch, but also some rogue snaps at fullback!

While we might not be seeing BVS suiting up in the backfield permanently, he was a key cog on the special teams unit, and retaining developmental depth at linebacker is key for the Eagles.

It’s been a busy few days for Philadelphia and after losing a flurry of players to the open market, it’s nice to see them retain a player who has spent two years growing with the team and still has plenty of upside…maybe even on both sides of the ball!
