10 Players that the Eagles should target in Free Agency

The Philadelphia Eagles are only (potentially) losing one starter on offense, RG Mekhi Becton. That’s it! Everyone else is under contract for 2025. They will need to address RG either with Tyler Steen or a FA if Mekhi leaves, and also add depth along the offensive line. Luckily for the Eagles, there are always great bargains when shopping for interior offensive linemen.

On defense, after signing Zack Baun to a three-year $51M deal, the Eagles will have two starting spots open, DT and CB. Eagles GM Howie Roseman dislikes leaving holes to be filled in the draft, so with that in mind, Edge, OL, CB, and DT could be targets in free agency.

Though fans should temper their expectations. I would not expect the level of excitement during this free agency as the Eagles had everyone feeling last year. This season the Eagles’ approach will be one of playing the comp pick game like they did in 2023 to add four comp picks in 2024. If they lose Milton Williams and or Josh Sweat, they could be looking at netting a 3rd and 4th round pick back for those two players.

Howie also has the contract extensions of Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Cam Jurgens, and Nolan Smith II to think about as early as next off-season, so tying money into free agents, as opposed to securing his homegrown guys with extensions, will play a large role in the 2025 off-season decision making.

Listed below are a few, lower-profile Free Agents that could interest the Eagles.

Offensive Line

Ben Bartch, 26, can play all three interior line positions, and after suffering a season-ending ankle injury, could be an affordable player on a one-year deal.

Larry Borom,25, has struggled mightily in an organization that has had a lot of trouble developing talent. He has struggled with his health, but is also Uber-athletic and the type of talent that Jeff Stoutland could help evolve into a good news story with some time at the U!

Brady Christensen, 26, can play every spot on the line, is athletic, and should be available at a price Howie is willing to pay for a versatile depth piece on the line.

Edge Rushers

Losing Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat will open spots and provide competition for the right to start opposite Nolan Smith. Jalyx Hunt is likely penciled in for a lot of those snaps, but the Eagles will need more firepower with the uncertainty of Bryce Huff’s development and fit in the City of Brotherly Love.

Joseph Ossai,24, is young, strong, and has underperformed during his time in Cincinnati. He has a great initial burst, decent bend, and could be a threat as a pass rusher. Ossai could thrive in a rotational role and is versatile enough to move inside when needed. A role BG leaves behind.

Baron Browning, 26, is a converted edge rusher, playing as an off-ball LB his first year in the league. Since 2022, Baron has a 14% pressure rate, which is good for 25th since 2022 amongst players with 500+ pass rushing snaps. Browning is another “buy the traits” kind of player that could pay big dividends for the Eagles.

Azeez Ojulari, 25, has been injured, but the Eagles have seen him up close, having been in the division. Azeez had three starts in 2024 and totaled 5 sacks. He could be another perfect buy-low candidate that could be a perfect marriage

Defensive Tackle

Losing Milton Williams will leave a big hole behind. Despite Moro Ojomo likely logging more defensive snaps in 2025, DT is a position I could see addressed in both free agency, and early in the draft.

Bobby Brown III, 25, a former 4th round pick who has impressed when he has been on the field. His best years should be ahead of him, and he could be a great player to get on a short-term prove-it deal. The Eagles are one of the best destinations in the league to increase your value and get a new contract from either Philadelphia or the open market after playing in their system.

Linebackers

After the big Zack Baun signing, I still expect the Eagles to address LB as Nakobe Dean has a hard road back to being a factor early in the 2025 season. Oren Burks on a one-year deal would be the first choice, but there are a couple of options they could consider.

Tyrel Dodson,26, could be a player acquired on a one-year deal who could be a perfect fit. He was the defensive signal caller for the Dolphins, after being released during the year by Seattle. He is solid in coverage and is a player that is similar to Burks.

Kyzir White, 29, is a player the Eagles fan base knows well. A former college safety, who is good in coverage and excellent in pursuit. His speed is still a big factor in his game, and he is always willing to mix it up.

Cornerbacks

If the Eagles do not work out a deal with Big Play Slay, I expect them to pivot to another one of their players, Isaiah Rodgers. But, if they go outside the organization, there is one CB who could make some sense for Philadelphia.

Nate Hobbs, 26, is a physical corner who has 1600 outside snaps and due to his age could be the type of ascending player Howie would take a gamble on. He is a physical corner that is also strong against the run. Nate’s injury history could lower his market value which could interest the Eagles.

Bonus:

Khalil Mack, 34, could be a wily veteran looking for a ring that is willing to come in and play a role with a contender for a reasonably affordable contract. He totaled six sacks with the Chargers last year.
