According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Philadelphia Eagles have informed CB James Bradberry that they intend to part ways with him this offseason. Bradberry will be released with a post-June 1st designation, saving the Eagles around $2M in cap space.

The move comes just a day after the news that Darius Slay is also on his way out of Philadelphia. Both starting corners from the 2022 season will be free agents going into 2025, with a new crop of hungry corners ready to step up in their absence.

The move hardly comes as a surprise. Bradberry was rumoured to be on the chopping block ahead of the 2024 campaign before a rogue move to Safety gave him a shot at securing a spot on the roster. His 2023 season was massively disappointing from a production standpoint, at least in comparison to his debut campaign in Philly, and this pushed him deep down the depth chart.

With the rise of Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell, alongside a plethora of young DB talent, it meant that the former Giant struggled to get on the field, even after his move to Safety.

However, he does leave Philadelphia as a Super Bowl winner and was a key cog in the 2022 team that reached the Super Bowl in what became the first of two big-game clashes against the Chiefs.

This decision gives Bradberry a chance at catching on with a new team, and of course grants Howie Roseman some extra capital to deploy in what promises to be a pivotal offseason.
