According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles have found their man to replace Doug Nussmeier as the teams’ quarterback coach. Scot Loeffler will join the Super Bowl Champions this offseason.
Eagles hiring Scot Loeffler as next QB Coach
Loeffler joins the Eagles after most recently spending six seasons as Bowling Green’s Head Coach, amassing a record of 27-41. This was his first HC role and until that point, he had spent over 20 years coaching quarterbacks for various college teams, including Auburn, Temple, and of course Michigan, with whom he played the position himself in the early 90’s.
He also coached the Detroit Lions quarterbacks in 2008, making this his second NFL rodeo. Over his lengthy coaching career, he’s worked with some notable names including Tim Tebow and Tom Brady.

He’s been close with the legendary quarterback for a long time and given that Jalen Hurts sought out individual coaching from Tom House (another former coach of Brady’s), it’s easy to connect the dots and speculate whether Hurts played a role in this hiring, or if the Eagles had the foresight to find a coach who can further elevate Hurts in the way he feels is best for his own development.
This eclectic background could well benefit Philadelphia, who have long been searching for stability when it comes to the environment for Jalen Hurts. There aren’t many minds in the world of Football who have coached a single position as long as Loeffler.
The Eagles will now be fully focused on the NFL Combine this weekend.
