Ahead of their return to action following the All-Star break, the Philadelphia 76ers have made yet another roster addition, as they’re set to sign forward Alex Reese.
As first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, Reese will join the Sixers on a two-way deal. The Sixers currently have only one other two-way spot filled, Jeff Dowtin Jr., after converting Justin Edwards and Jared Butler to standard deals.
Reese previously played with the Oklahoma City Thunder, though he played in only one game in October. He also played with the Rip City Remix in the NBA G League, where he showed off his skill set.
Reese averaged 13.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.8 stocks (steals plus blocks) while shooting an incredible 44.4% on 7.9 three-point attempts per night. While the sample size — ten games played — is not enough to take his stats as gospel, Reese clearly shows an ability to impact the game from range and the desire for dirty work — as evidenced by his stocks.
The Sixers have one remaining two-way spot, and it still remains to be seen who will fill that position. Current 10-day signee David Roddy is a potential candidate. His deal with the Sixers will expire after today, and he will return to the free-agent pool with two-way eligibility, having played less than four seasons.
