The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t waste much time following the departure of former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Philadelphia officially announced the promotion of former pass game coordinator and associate head coach Kevin Patullo to offensive coordinator on Wednesday.
Following Patullo’s promotion, the Eagles reportedly filled his former role by hiring Parks Frazier to be Philadelphia’s pass game coordinator. Now the team still has to fill one more notable void remaining on Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff.
According to multiple reports, former Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier is expected to be named the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints. Therefore, Philadelphia must figure out who will be working closely with Super Bowl MVP quarterback Jalen Hurts next season.
Here are 10 quarterback coach candidates that Philadelphia might consider to fill a massive role on Sirianni’s coaching staff in 2025.
Which Quarterback Coach Candidates Could Be in Consideration for the Eagles?
Frank Reich
Reich is no stranger to the City of Brotherly Love. He was the Eagles offensive coordinator for two seasons and helped the team win Super Bowl LII. Reich has a wealth of experience as both an NFL coach and NFL player. He also worked for several seasons with Sirianni, Patullo, Frazier and other Eagles coaches. While Reich could enjoy life away from the NFL, Philadelphia could provide the perfect situation given his relationship with several members of the team’s coaching staff.
Mike McCoy
Similar to Reich, McCoy has experience working with Sirianni. McCoy and Sirianni worked together for four seasons with the Chargers from 2013 to 2016. The 52-year-old returned to the NFL coaching scene in 2022 as the Jaguars quarterback coach. Following the coaching staff changes in Jacksonville, McCoy is available and he would make plenty of sense as a veteran quarterback coach option for the Eagles in 2025.
Luke Getsy
Getsy is a 41-year-old Pennsylvania native that already has 10 years of NFL coaching experience. He helped Aaron Rodgers win back-to-back MVPs during his time as a quarterback coach with the Packers. Getsy has experience as an offensive coordinator and recently returned to Green Bay as a senior offensive assistant. It would be interesting to see if the Eagles could lure Getsy to Philadelphia as an experienced outside voice in the quarterback room.

Kerry Joseph
Joseph was a standout quarterback in the CFL before beginning his coaching journey in 2014. He spent four seasons with the Seahawks, as he helped Geno Smith revive his career in Seattle. Joseph was the Bears quarterback coach last season, where he helped develop Caleb Williams during his rookie season. He was not retained by Chicago’s new coaching regime and the Eagles could take a chance on him in 2025.
Alex Van Pelt
Van Pelt spent 11 seasons in the NFL as a quarterback, primarily with the Bills. Now he’s parlayed his success as a player into a lengthy coaching career in the league. Van Pelt has nearly 20 years of NFL coaching experience, primarily working as a quarterback coach and offensive coordinator. The 54-year-old Pennsylvania native would bring over 30 combined years of experience in the NFL to Philadelphia’s quarterback room.
T.C. McCartney
McCartney worked under Van Pelt in each of the last five seasons, holding a variety of titles. He was the Patriots quarterback coach in 2024, as he helped develop rookie Drake Maye. Despite being just 35-years-old, McCartney already has 10 years of NFL coaching experience, including two seasons as a quarterback coach. He is the grandson of legendary college football coach Bill McCartney.
David Blough
Blough served as the Commanders assistant quarterback coach in 2024, his first year ever as a coach. Yet he has already garnered interest around the NFL, as Blough was interviewed by three teams for higher positions this offseason. At just 29-years-old with five years of experience as an NFL quarterback, Blough wouldn’t provide a ton of coaching experience in Philadelphia. Yet he would make sense as a developmental target for the Eagles that the team could add to their coaching pipeline.

Jordan Somerville
Similar to Blough, Somerville is another young assistant quarterback coach that is on the rise. Somerville has spent the last two seasons as the Buccaneers assistant quarterback coach, working under Thad Lewis to help revitalize Baker Mayfield’s career. Prior to becoming an NFL coach in 2023, Somerville spent one season as an offensive analyst at the University of Oregon. It’s hard not to be impressed with Somerville’s resume in recent years, as he worked with both Mayfield in Tampa Bay and Bo Nix at Oregon.
Rob Calabrese
Calabrese got his NFL coaching start under former Eagles coach Rich Scangarello with the Broncos in 2019. Calabrese also worked under Scangarello and eventually replaced him at Wagner College. Following a three-year stint as the Jets quarterback coach, Calabrese began working as an offensive assistant for the Rams in 2024. After suffering a serious knee injury as a quarterback at UCF, Calabrese embraced a career in coaching and is on the rise in the NFL.
Connor Lewis
Lewis might have the most intriguing background of any quarterback coach candidate on my list. He has a background in football analytics, which he started doing for the Giants in 2014. Lewis joined the Packers as a football technology analyst in 2016. He has worked his way up the ranks in Green Bay, serving as the team’s assistant quarterback coach since 2022. If the Eagles want to get creative with their next quarterback coach, it’s hard to find a more intriguing candidate than Lewis.
