According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Eagles Center, Cam Jurgens, recently underwent a procedure to relieve nerve pain in his back. The Pro Bowler is expected to suit up for Training Camp in July but could miss OTA’s.
Eagles’ Cam Jurgens undergoes back procedure
It’s unclear how much of the season that the 25-year-old suffered with back pain, although reports suggest he first endured the injury against the Rams. But in his first full season as a starting center, Jurgens helped push the Philadelphia offense to the top of the NFL rankings and of course all the way to the promised land, winning Super Bowl 59.

Without the incredible athleticism of Jurgens, we might not have seen a season quite as historic as the one we saw from Saquon Barkley. The Nebraska product graded out with a 68.1 mark in run blocking according to PFF, and in one of the most gutsy performances of the year, notably replaced Landon Dickerson mid-game against the Commanders. Dickerson was actually starting at center in place of Jurgens to begin with before picking up a knee injury himself, and both players were able to grind out the rest of the game and of course the Super Bowl that followed.
2025 will be a big year for Cam Jurgens, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal. It’s hard to imagine the Eagles looking elsewhere than the man who was hand-picked by Jason Kelce to fill his Hall of Fame-worthy boots, so don’t be surprised if an extension is on the horizon this offseason.
