After a week-plus of rightfully enjoying life following their second Super Bowl victory, the Philadelphia Eagles have announced the first major offseason domino, naming pass game coordinator and associate head coach Kevin Patullo as the team’s new offensive coordinator.

Patullo replaces Kellen Moore, who, following the Eagles’ Super Bowl season, became the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Since Moore officially decided to move on from Philadelphia, Patullo has been perceived as the strong favorite for the position. Just ten days removed from the Super Bowl, it’s clear the Eagles feel confident in their decision despite Patullo’s no history of play-calling at the NFL level. This is likely due in part to the importance Patullo has played within the organization during HC Nick Sirianni’s tenure.

An integral part of Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff since Sirianni’s arrival in Philadelphia in 2021, Patullo has played a major role in assisting during the transition between the offensive coordinators the Eagles have seen over the past few years, from Shane Steichen to Brian Johnson, and most recently Kellen Moore. Patullo received the added designation as Eagles’ associate head coach in 2023.

Patullo’s history with Sirianni extends back to 2018 in Indianapolis when Sirianni served as the Colts’ offensive coordinator. Patullo was the team’s wide receivers coach before being re-assigned as the team’s pass game specialist in 2020.

While it’s not the same as retaining Moore, promoting Patullo provides continuity for the Eagles’ offense, particularly Jalen Hurts, who is now on his fourth offensive coordinator in as many seasons.

In an additional move, the Eagles are expected to hire Parks Frazier to replace Kevin Patullo as pass game coordinator, according to Tom Pelissero and The Insiders. Frazier most recently served as an offensive assistant with the Miami Dolphins in 2024 and previously served as the assistant to Frank Reich with the Colts in 2018 — while Eagles’ HC Nick Sirianni served as the team’s offensive coordinator.
