The Sixers continue to make moves to fill out their roster after the NBA trade deadline. The team already added Quentin Grimes and Jared Butler — the latter on a two-way deal, in various trades at the deadline. Philadelphia also signed Chuma Okeke to a 10-day contract and converted Justin Edwards‘ two-way deal to a standard NBA contract. Now, filling their final roster spot, at least temporarily, the Sixers have signed forward David Roddy to a 10-day contract.
Roddy was initially drafted by the Sixers during the 2022 NBA Draft, with the 23rd overall pick, and was sent to Memphis, alongside Danny Green, in exchange for De’Anthony Melton. After a season and a half with the Grizzlies, Roddy was traded to the Phoenix Suns and then the Atlanta Hawks.
Over 162 career games, Roddy has averaged 6.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. This season with the Hawks, Roddy has averaged just 4.5 points per fame but has grown offensively. Roddy has expanded his range and found consistency from deep, shooting 37.2% from deep on 5.8 attempts per 100 possessions.
An undersized but electric power forward, Roddy could be utilized similarly to how the Sixers played KJ Martin previously, though defensively, he may not be as stable an option.
