The Philadelphia Eagles will be playing the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl for the second time in three years. The Eagles will be trying to win their second Super Bowl in franchise history and their second in seven seasons. The Chiefs will be attempting to become the first team in NFL history to win three Lombardi Trophies in a row.

The two teams took different paths to get back to the big game. There is a lot to unload and digest. Who is coming in hot, and who is not? What do the head-to-head stats say about how the game could play out? There are many random factoids and much data to digest inside the Super Bowl numbers!

Coming in hot or not:

The Eagles have outscored their three playoff opponents by 50 points!

The Chiefs have won nine straight playoff games.

Saquon Barkley is the first player in NFL history with three rushing touchdowns of 60 or more yards in the post-season. He has done this in three games.

Barkley heads to the Super Bowl with 442 postseason rushing yards, the 7th most in a single postseason.

Saquon has 2447 rushing yards, regular and postseason combined, and only needs 30 to break Terrell Davis’s record of 2476 from 1998.

Philadelphia is 15–1 over their last 16 games. The turnaround came after their bye week, and the lone loss was when they were without Jalen Hurts due to a concussion for 3/4 of the game.

DeVonta Smith has 526 career postseason receiving yards. He has caught all 12 of his postseason targets.

Philadelphia converted 38 of their 47 Brotherly Shove attempts during the season, and 8 of the 9 times they were stopped, they went for it again a down later and scored a touchdown or successfully gained 4 more downs by picking up a first.

A.J Brown had six receptions for 96 yards and a TD in the NFCCG.

The Eagles are 5–0 playing on artificial turf this season and have allowed opposing teams a minuscule 11.6 points per game average.

Chiefs vs Eagles Head-to-Head Stats:

DeVonta Smith has 321 receiving yards in the 3 games he has faced the KC Chiefs.

In their last match, Smitty had 6 receptions for 99 yards, including the big game-winning 41-yard catch that took the ball down to the one-yard line, and eventually into the endzone, via the unstoppable Brotherly Shove.

The Eagles have nine starters returning from their last SB matchup, and the Chiefs have twelve.

Travis Kelce holds the NFL record for the most postseason receptions with 174 and is trying to pass Jerry Rice for the most TDs. Kelce has 20, and Rice has 22.

The Chiefs enter the game with the second fewest penalties in the NFL, the Eagles are ninth.

Random Chiefs vs Eagles Facts:

Super Bowl 59 will be the ninth rematch in SB history and the second for these two teams facing one another. This will be the second rematch for the Chiefs in their last 5 Bowl games, the other being the New England Patriots. Coincidentally, Philadelphia also faced the Patriots in the Super Bowl twice.

Andy Reid is the first head coach to have a rematch with two different head coaches in Super Bowls. Kyle Shanahan (2–0) and Nick Sirianni (1–0)

Andy Reid is the winningest coach in Kansas City (161) and Philadelphia (140) history. Includes postseason wins.

Reid is coaching in his 6th Super Bowl as a head coach, which is tied for the 2nd most in NFL history with Tom Landry and behind Bill Belichick (9).

Eagles’ Saquon Barkley, Andre Sam, and Cooper DeJean share a birthday on Super Bowl Sunday.

Nick Sirianni is the 5th youngest Head Coach to make their second Super Bowl appearance as an HC.

Nick Sirianni is one of three Head Coaches to make 2 Super Bowls in their first four seasons. The other two are Joe Gibbs and Mike Tomlin.

Sirianni has 53 wins in his first four seasons as Head Coach, including the playoffs; this is the second most in NFL history.

Jake Elliott missed a 60-yard field goal attempt in New Orleans in week 3, but Jake” the make” is 5 for 5 in his two prior Super Bowl appearances.

Nine Super Bowls have been decided by three points or less.

The Eagles’ defense was in cover four 19.5% of the time during the season and 26.1% in the postseason.

The Chiefs’ defense was in cover four 19.5% of the time during the season and 26.9% in the postseason.

20 Eagles players in Super Bowl 59 were also on the team in SB 57.

None of the final 4 NFL teams had a DL in their starting lineup they traded for. All were acquired via the draft.

Andy Reid will face Eagles LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr in SB 59, 20 years after coaching his father, Jeremiah Trotter Sr., in Super Bowl 39.
