Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is entering a territory that most NFL quarterbacks never reach. He will be starting in his second Super Bowl in three years and is doing so at the young age of 26. Super Bowl LIX will be a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, two seasons ago when these two teams faced off, and the game ended with a Chiefs victory. The Eagles are hoping for a different result in New Orleans.

The first time these two QBs met in the Super Bowl, Jalen Hurts was 24 years and 189 days old. The 8th youngest QB to start an SB in NFL history. Two years later, his experience and focus on protecting the ball may be the difference between winning and losing for the Eagles. Jalen enters the big game without having committed a turnover during the Eagles’ 3 post-season wins and looking inside the numbers, having a chance to bring the coveted Lombardi Trophy to Philadelphia.

Jalen Hurts is the fifth QB to appear in two Super Bowls before turning 27.

He is one of eight QBs in NFL history with 2 or more starts in a Super Bowl within their first five seasons.

The Eagles QB is 14–1 versus AFC teams in the regular season since 2022. His only loss, the Jets!

Jalen has a 96.3 passer rating in his three starts vs the Steve Spagnuolo-led defense, including 2 games with over 300 passing yards. He is the only QB in NFL history with over 300 pass yards, 70 or more rushing yards, and three or more rushing touchdowns in a game. The game he did it in was the Super Bowl.

Jalen is the first QB to lose in their first SB appearance and make it back since Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills in the 1990s.

With a win, Hurts would be the third QB to win a College Championship and a Super Bowl as a starter. He would join Joe Namath and Joe Montana as the only players to accomplish the feat.

If Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley combine for 27 yards in the Super Bowl, they will break the record for most rushing yards in a season by 2 players on the same team, in a single season. (including playoffs) The record is held by Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, who have 3,226.

This postseason, Hurts has been outstanding on third and fourth down. He has thrown for 163 yards on 12 completions in 17 attempts, including the big 4th down play in the NFC Championship game to A.J. Brown for 31 yards. The Eagles having an answer for the blitz could be the difference in the game. In the first Super Bowl matchup between these two teams, it was a fatal flaw in Philadelphia’s offense. It is no longer.

How Does Age Affect a QBs Winning %:

QBs 25 or younger have only won 6 of the Super Bowls, 10.5%.

The age of the QB from the 58 Super Bowl-winning teams has been 30 or younger thirty-two times. They will be again this year, too.

Age 26–30 years old: Have won 26 Super Bowls totaling 45.6%.

Jalen Hurts is 26, Patrick Mahomes is 29.
