As if these past 48 hours could not have gone any better for the Philadelphia-raised, Italian-blooded, John Garbarino.
He was the best-dressed man at the press conference on Thursday night from Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA. With an entourage of family and friends in attendance, “Johnny Garb” was oozing with swagger as he got ready to make his debut in BKFC.
Fast forward to Friday night at the weigh-in from Xfinity Live! in Philadelphia, it was Garbarino again who would make the headlines. Pandering to the crowd, positively or negatively, is what makes a successful fighter outside of the ring. What better way to get the crowd on your side than to have someone from your hometown slap another man with a cannoli?
It would all set the stage for Garbarino to earn himself two wins on Saturday night at Knucklemania V.
Garbarino entered the evening as the heaviest favorite on the entire fight card. He backed up the oddsmakers by finishing Apostle Spencer in the very first round. He could have taken care of business even quicker than he did, but being the showman that he is, he did as much dipping, ducking, bobbing, and weaving as one can do within 2 minutes while still managing to knock the other guy out cold.
And about that second win… “Johnny Garb” did what he has done the entire weekend: steal the damn show. He called his girlfriend to the ring, got down on one knee, and became a fiancé with over 17,000 of their closest neighbors watching.
