The Philadelphia Flyers (22-22-6) returned home to Training Center ahead of tomorrow night’s game with the New Jersey Devils. The Flyers are looking to rebound following two losses in New York that ended a three-game winning streak.

On a day when the entire Delaware Valley is entirely focused on the city’s football squad in the NFC Title game, the Flyers went to work in Voorhees, New Jersey. Philly is on the cusp of finishing a problematic stretch of nine straight Metropolitan division games. Currently, the Flyers are 3-3 with three games remaining in the divisional gauntlet.

Poehling Skates Alone Before Practice

Ryan Poehling skated by himself with a trainer prior to Flyers practice on Sunday morning. Poehling was placed on injured reserve last week by Philly after suffering a suspension-worthy hit from New York Islanders forward Maxim Tsyplakov. The Islanders rookie was suspended for three games following the hit and was not in the lineup for the Flyers’ 3-1 loss on Long Island.

Scott Laughton Returns to Squad

After missing three games due to a family matter, Scott Laughton rejoined the team for practice on Sunday afternoon. Laughton is expected to re-enter the lineup for tomorrow’s game at home against the New Jersey Devils. Laughton has 9 goals and 14 assists in 23 games played. While the veteran forward could be an option for a contending team at the trade deadline, Flyers GM Daniel Briere is in no rush to move the Flyers assistant captain. The 30-year-old forward is signed through next season in Philadelphia.

Flyers Home-and-Home Series with Devils Up Next

The Flyers’ next two match-ups are against the Metro-division rival, New Jersey Devils. In their first meeting of the season, Philadelphia scored a 3-1 win in Newark eight days ago, extending their point streak to five games. Bobby Brink’s power-play goal led to the road victory. Sam Ersson stopped 12-of-13 shots in the win. Philly stays home for tomorrow’s game against New Jersey at Wells Fargo Center. The two teams will rematch in North Jersey on Wednesday evening at the Prudential Center.
