After the Philadelphia Eagles dismantled the Washington Commanders to cement their spot in Super Bowl LIX, the City erupted in celebration. But while the ‘Go Birds’ chants echoed around Broad Street, the rest of the world was eagerly waiting to see who would be joining them in the big dance.
Eagles vs Chiefs set to headline Super Bowl LIX
The Kansas City Chiefs came into Sunday’s clash against the Buffalo Bills chasing the historic three-peat. One more win and they had a chance to do something no other team has ever done. It took absolutely everything, but the Bills fell an inch short in a championship game once again, meaning that Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are indeed headed to the Super Bowl.
The will join the Eagles in New Orleans in two weeks time to battle for the Lombardi Trophy. The Birds did a remarkable job of embarrassing their divsional rivals in what was surprisingly the first ever playoff matchup between the two, and to hoist their second Super Bowl trophy, they’ll have to get past a franchise on the cusp of one of the greatest sporting feats ever seen, and the team who snuffed their Super Bowl dreams in 2022.
In a rematch built for the ages, the Eagles and Chiefs will lock horns once more. The links between the two teams need no introduction and in what will be a WrestleMania level matchup, they will write another chapter in what is becoming a storyline even the finest movie directors couldn’t write.
