Facing the Bulls in Chicago, the Sixers came into the game looking to make up some ground in the Eastern Conference. What Philadelphia could not afford was to suffer yet another injury. Unfortunately, the injury bug would rear its head yet again.
In the second quarter, Paul George went up for a rebound against Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, during which George’s pinky on his left hand — his non-dominant hand — found itself caught under Vucevic’s descending arm.
George would sit the final five minutes of the first half, was replaced by Justin Edwards to start the second, and was ruled out early in the third quarter against Chicago.
George has played in 30 of 44 games for the Sixers this season. There’s no official word on the specifics of the injury, but there is hope as it is on George’s non-shooting hand. Still, the potential to miss time remains, and the Sixers are already without Joel Embiid, Caleb Martin, Andre Drummond, and KJ Martin.
According to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Noah Levick, both Caleb and KJ Martin are expected to rejoin the team in practice this upcoming week. Caleb Martin was a partial participant in the team’s most recent practice, while Philly Sports Network reported on Thursday that KJ Martin had begun individual on-court work.
