After being healthy and scratched for the past three games, Joel Farabee draws back into the Flyers’ lineup ahead of the tilt against the New York Islanders.

Joel Farabee set to return to Flyers lineup

With Farabee’s return to the lineup, Olle Lycksell comes out. Farabee has played 42 games this season, only putting up six goals and eight assists, which tallies to only 14 points. Last season, Farabee put up 50 points with 22 goals and 28 assists. This season, Farabee has been struggling.

However, many rumors speculate that Farabee might be a potential trade candidate ahead of the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. The left winger signed a six-year $30,000,000 contract in 2022, which expires in 2028, and Farabee is a UFA. Farabee is currently halfway through his contact. It’s unclear what his future holds as he was a former first-round pick going 14th overall to Philadelphia in the 2020 NHL Entry Level Draft.

This will naturally be an important stretch for the 25-year-old. Tortorella has not shied away from a cutthroat mentality, but we’ve also seen that sometimes benching yields positive results. It will be interesting to see how Farabee fares tonight and in the games that follow.
