The Eagles were able to leave Lincoln Financial Field with plenty of confidence after beating the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs. Unfortunately, it wasn’t all blue skies and rainbows, as it was revealed on Monday morning that Nakobe Dean is expected to miss the remainder of the postseason with a significant knee injury, according to Ian Rapoport.

Eagles set top be without Nakobe Dean for remainder of NFL playoffs

After two years plagued by injuries, the Georgia product exploded out of the gates under Vic Fangio in 2024 and would put together the campaign fans all knew he was capable of. Registering 128 tackles, 6 QB hits, and 4 passes defensed, the third-year linebacker was a key cog in the rise of Philadelphia’s dominant defense, so losing him for the remainder of the postseason is certainly a tough pill to swallow.

For Dean, it’s extra painful. He’s struggled to remain healthy throughout the early phases of his NFL career, and given that he only has one more year on his contract, this certainly knocks the wind out of his sails. Hopefully he’ll be back in time for OTA’s and ready to put together one more stunning campaign to prove himself worthy and reliable enough for a contract extension.

As for who takes his place, the Eagles do have options. Oren Burks received extended looks last night, while Jeremiah Trotter Jr. could also be called upon in a pinch.

The Eagles will find out their playoff destiny tonight after the Vikings and Rams lock horns.
