Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced Tuesday that the organization has waived two-way big man Pete Nance. Nance appeared in one game for the Sixers since signing his two-way deal on Dec. 3.
Nance’s lack of participation at the NBA level, particularly amidst the continued health struggles of Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond, was a clear signal that he was not longed for the team.
Though his stats did not pop off the page with the Sixers’ G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, he seemed to fit nicely as a complementary player. Over four games in Delaware, he averaged 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 45.5% from deep.
Nance replaced guard Lester Quinones, who was previously on a two-way deal for the Sixers alongside current two-ways Jeff Dowtin Jr. and Justin Edwards. Philadelphia now has an open two-way spot in addition to an open roster spot. With the 10-day contract window, that being the period in which teams can sign free agents to 10-day contracts, up to two per player, the Sixers have a fair amount of flexibility to add to their roster even ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
