The calendar year 2024 was just that for the Philadelphia 76ers… a year. Whether that year was good, bad, or somewhere perilously in between is in the eye of the beholder. No matter how you view 2024 through a Sixers lens, one thing is for certain—it is over.
The start to the 2024-25 season could not have gone any worse for the Sixers, but they have gradually gotten their act together as they have gotten healthier. Between Thanksgiving and the start of the new year, they posted a 10-3 record and look much more like the team they expected to be coming into the season.
With 2024 officially in the rearview mirror, here are 25 interesting Sixers statistics from this season to kick off 2025!

1) The Sixers’ defensive rating per 100 possessions when Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George all play is 104.04, which would be the second-best mark in the league behind the Oklahoma City Thunder.
2) Joel Embiid’s PER through 13 games is 25.2, his lowest since 2017-18 and the second lowest of his career.
3) Tyrese Maxey’s Usage Rate is at 30.2 percent. For comparison, the lowest Usage Rate of Joel Embiid’s career is 31.8 percent in 2017-18.
4) Kelly Oubre‘s True Shooting percentage has increased for three years in a row. 53.4 percent in 2022, 53.5 percent last season, and 54.0 percent so far this year.
5) Caleb Martin‘s Free Throw Attempt Rate—which measures the number of free throw attempts per field goal attempt—is by far the highest of his career, at 32.2 percent.
6) Paul George’s 33.6 percent from three is his lowest since his rookie season in the NBA in 2010-11.
7) The Sixers’ offense operates at the third slowest pace in the league, with just 97.64 possessions per 48 minutes.
8) Tyrese Maxey currently has tied the highest assist percentage of his career at 26.7 percent, coupled with the lowest assist-to-turnover ratio of his career at 2.37.
9) Guerschon Yabusele has started over twice as many games with the Sixers (12) as he did previously in his NBA career (5) and has played over 300 more minutes than he had total in his NBA career coming into the season.
10) The Sixers are fourth worst in the league in effective field goal % after timeouts at 44.6 %.
11) Joel Embiid is averaging the fewest personal fouls of his career at 2.2 per game. That coincides with the fewest blocks per game of his career as well, at just 1.0.
12) Jared McCain hit at least three three-point shots in eight consecutive games in November, good for the NBA rookie record and the Sixers’ franchise record (at the time).
13) Tyrese Maxey hit at least three three-point shots in nine consecutive games leading into the New Year, breaking Jared McCain’s franchise record.
14) Kyle Lowry has drawn five charges in 497 minutes of play this season. Tobias Harris has drawn 0 charges for the Detroit Pistons in 946 minutes of play this season. Lowry has now drawn 14 charges in 45 games played as a Sixer. Tobias Harris drew 0 charges in 378 games played as a Sixer.
15) KJ Martin has the seventh-highest Effective Field Goal percentage in the league at 65.7 percent.
16) Paul George’s average distance from the basket on his field goal attempts is the longest of his career at 18 feet.
17) The Sixers rotation of Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre, Paul George, KJ Martin, and Joel Embiid boasts the highest net rating (29.1) of any Sixers lineup that has played at least 30 minutes together.
18) The Sixers are the best team in the league at specifically defending right-corner three-point shots, with opponents only shooting 30.2 percent.
19) The Sixers have an overall net rating of 3.8 with no starters on the court, higher than any net rating with any amount of starters on the floor.
20) Kelly Oubre is third in the NBA in deflections per game at 4.0 and tied for fourth in the NBA in loose balls recovered per game at 0.9. The Sixers as a team rank third in deflections per game in the NBA, averaging 19.1, and first in loose balls recovered per game at 5.6.
21) Ricky Council IV has played 335 minutes of NBA basketball this season. That is more than thee number of minutes of NBA basketball he played all of last season.

25) Joel Embiid is fourth in the league in Free-Throw percentage (minimum 40 attempts) at 92.0 percent. He only trails Chris Paul, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Steph Curry. Embiid is the only of those players to attempt more than 100 free throws.
