The Philadelphia 76ers are preparing for a Western Conference road trip that begins in Utah against the Jazz on Saturday night. Ahead of that matchup, one last bit of unfinished business regarding the Sixers’ Christmas Day victory over the Boston Celtics made its way forward as the NBA fined Joel Embiid $75,000 for “making obscene gestures” during the matchup.
The NBA released a statement that read:
“Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has been fined $75,000 for making obscene gestures on the playing court it was announced today by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations. The incidents occurred during the first half of the 76ers’ 118-114 win over the Boston Celtics on Dec. 25 at TD Garden.”
According to the NBA, Embiid was guilty of multiple instances, which likely includes his signature DX Chop in the first quarter:
And his post-three celebration, as seen below:
Some Christmas gift for the former MVP, but on National TV, the NBA surely doesn’t let anything slide.
