As one Philadelphia Eagles offensive star returns to the lineup, another hits the injured reserve list following last week’s win against Baltimore. Head Coach Nick Sirianni said it was a “week-to-week” situation following the Ravens game.
Dallas Goedert headed to Eagles’ IR
According to a report from Ian Rapoport on Saturday morning, the Philadelphia Eagles have placed Tight End Dallas Goedert on injured reserve due to a knee injury. Due to the IR placement, Goedert will miss at least four of the remaining five games in the Eagles’ regular season but is expected to return for Philadelphia’s expected playoff push:
While he has not been the offense’s focal point this season, Goedert has been an important blocking component for the Eagles’ dynamic run game. The 29-year-old tight end has been a reliable target for Hurts this season, with 38 catches on 46 targets totaling 441 yards. Goedert has scored twice this season while averaging over a first down per catch with an 11.6 average.
The Birds’ next-man-up mentality comes into play as Grant Calcaterra slides into Philly’s starting group. Former New York Jets TE C.J. Uzomah, who was added to the 53-man roster by Philly earlier this week, is expected to take snaps in the backup role.
Philadelphia finishes the season with four home games out of the final five contests. The only remaining road trip on the schedule sends the Eagles to Washington to stake their claim to the NFC East crown in a Week 16 fight if the East hasn’t already been decided. Philadelphia (10-2) holds a two-game advantage over Washington (8-5).
The Eagles welcome the Panthers (3-9) to Lincoln Financial Field tomorrow afternoon for a traditional 1 pm EST kickoff. Philadelphia has won their last eight straight games, while Carolina has lost its last two contests.
