The good times continue to roll for the Eagles and Saquon Barkley. He has had an incredible bounce-back season in Philadelphia and the accolades and attention have only increased after every win. It doesn’t look like it’ll stop anytime soon as Saquon Barkley has now been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November.
It was his best four-week stretch in midnight green and it all started with a backward hurdle against the Jaguars and ended with him stealing the spotlight in LA during the matchup between the Eagles and the Rams. During that span, Barkley rushed for 626 yards on 93 attempts while averaging 6.7 yards per carry. He also totaled 151 receiving yards on 10 receptions.
Saquon Barkley had a total of 5 rushing touchdowns and 1 receiving touchdown during November. He has played a pivotal role for the Eagles as the offense has followed his lead week after week. He’s done everything that’s been expected of him and more.
The Eagles offensive identity
Philadelphia struggled with their offensive identity early on which led to a 2-2 start on the season. Following the BYE week, the Eagles found their stride and bought into the idea of being a run-first offense. This change has led to the being the number one running offense in the league as of now.
His presence in the backfield has helped open several passing lanes for Jalen Hurts in each of the last 8 games. Hurts has looked much more comfortable with his role in the offense now that Saquon Barkley has become the focal point for Kellen Moore. While the offense does rank 1st in rushing, the passing attack is near the bottom of the league but with the talent that they have, the Eagles can flip that script at any point during the season.
The Eagles are now heading into a stretch where every game and win matters much more as they chase after the Detroit Lions for the number one seed in the NFC. The Lions take on the Packers tonight in a crucial matchup as the Eagles host the Panthers on Sunday at 1 PM.
With the weather changing and the season coming to an end, I am fully expecting the Eagles to continue to ride Saquon Barkley to the promised land. Barkley is also closing in on the single-season rushing record which could catapult to the top of the list for MVP.
