The Philadelphia Eagles were set to leave Los Angeles in good spirits following their huge win over the Rams that saw them move to 9-2 on the season. Unfortunately, things took a turn after the game. Brandon Graham revealed to the media that he tore his triceps during the game and is going to miss the rest of the season.
Brandon Graham OUT for the rest of the season
This is a devastating piece of news for a few reasons – the most important being that this was widely regarded to be BG’s final year with the Philadelphia Eagles after a remarkable career that started back in 2010 when he was drafted by the team. He’s won a Super Bowl with this franchise, become an icon in the City, and has been a teammate loved by all. To see his final rodeo end like this is truly heartbreaking.
To make matters worse, the Eagles are already down to bare bones at defensive end. Bryce Huff is out for a few weeks following wrist surgery, and with Brandon Graham now headed to the sidelines, it means that there is even more pressure on the likes of Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt to step up as the season reaches its most pivotal point.
Graham ended what could be his final game as an NFL player in a way that only he could. The Michigan product registered 6 total pressures, a pair of quarterback hits, 2 tackles for loss, and a sack against the Los Angeles Rams.
It’s genuinely upsetting to hear that we might not get to see Brandon Graham suit up in midnight green again, especially with the trajectory this team is on this season. He’s a rare breed of pass-rusher that was able to age like a fine wine and grow not only into his NFL role, but into an environment that wasn’t all too inviting initially.
If this is it, thank you Brandon Graham, for everything.
We’ll have a much deeper and more emotional ‘goodbye’ piece to BG once the season is over. His retirement has been rumored for years now but he continues to come back swinging…and I know I’m not the only one crossing my fingers that he has the drive and health to play one more season with his beloved Birds.
