The Philadelphia Eagles released their final injury report of the week ahead of this weekend’s clash with the Rams and there is some unfortunate news for Philly fans.
Eagles list DeVonta Smith as OUT for Rams clash
Only one player has been listed as OUT ahead of Sunday’s game, but the Eagles will be without a pivotal playmaker come Sunday,
After missing practice both of the last two days, superstar WR DeVonta Smith is set to miss this game due to a lingering hamstring injury. Smitty looked hampered by the injury in the most recent win over Washington, but it doesn’t look to be anything too serious.
So far this season, Smith has 516 yards and 4 touchdowns to his name. While this hasn’t been the explosive campaign many envisioned, it was always going to be a struggle for both Philly perimeter threats to repeat their previous successes while sharing the rock with one of the most dangerous running backs in Football, and DeVonta’s presence on the Eagles’ offense has been just as vital as it ever was.
In his place, we could see some looks for both Ainias Smith and Johnny Wilson, along with the potential of moving Jahan Dotson outside. Another solution would involve more 12-personnel sets with Grant Calcaterra receiving some more offensive snaps. This is probably the most likely outcome as he’s been the most consistent of the names mentioned and looked impressive when stepping in for Dallas Goedert earlier in the year.
Elsewhere, Bryce Huff has been placed on injured reserve. You can read more about that move and what it means for the team here.
