Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni confirmed in today’s press conference that Edge Rusher Bryce Huff will have to undergo surgery for his ailing left wrist. The injury occurred during a pregame incident against the Jaguars.
Eagles’ Bryce Huff to get wrist surgery
Huff deserves credit for trying to play through the injury with a hard cast, but his snap count totals of 12 versus the Cowboys and 14 against the Commanders illustrated how much he struggled with staying on the field.
Bryce will reportedly have surgery to correct the issue on Thursday. The Eagles believe this is the best option to have him return in time for a playoff run, later this season.
Huff signed a 3-year 51 million dollar contract during the offseason to be a difference-maker, and so far this season, he has struggled with only 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
In the weeks before the injury, Huff had been playing better, especially as a pass rusher on third down. The injury is an opportunity for the Eagles to give rookie Jalyx Hunt more snaps. He did play 42% of the defensive snaps against the Cowboys.
“We obviously drafted Jalyx because we liked his skillset. Jalyx has been doing a lot of good things on special teams. We’ll see how those reps get divvied up. This week will tell a lot.” said Nick Sirianni.
Once Huff is placed on injured reserve, it could also pave the way for another player, Britain Covey, to be back with the team.
As always, Thank you for reading.
