The Phillies’ prized pitching prospect Andrew Painter made his fourth start in the Arizona Fall League Wednesday afternoon as he builds his arm up for 2025 Spring Training.

He started for the Glendale Desert Dogs as they took on the Surprise Saguaros and got the win 8-7 with Painter setting the table for the bullpen.

In this fourth start, Painter pitched another three innings, allowing two hits and striking out three batters. Although the stats say he gave up two hits, one of the hits was a hit that was a fly ball that happened to fall right in between the left fielder, third baseman, and shortstop.

In most situations that ball caught for an out but unfortunately, it ended up a hit on Painter’s stat line.

He threw 33 pitches with 25 of those being strikes. Painter also got some flash on his fastball, topping out at 99.1 mph. After consecutive scoreless outings, his ERA has dropped to 2.70 for the exhibition season.

In his last two starts, he has introduced a slider to his repertoire which looks like it can develop into an out pitch for him. This might be something to watch when the club heads to Clearwater for Spring Training.
