Flyers team news

Nick Seeler enters the lineup for his season debut. Yesterday, after practice, Seeler explained what went wrong that caused him to miss time. His lower leg experienced numbness, which meant he had to tape up his leg up while still conditioning. Seeler also stated this was his first full practice and claimed he felt good.

Per Flyers PR, Tyson Forester, Erik Johnson, and Jett Luchanko are all out of tonight’s lineup. Besides Seeler making his season debut, Nicolas Deslauriers does as well.

Yesterday, following practice, Matvei Michkov said that this would be his first time meeting and playing against Alexander Ovechkin. Michkov said it’s an honor to play against such a talented player. With players such as Egor Zamula being so vocal about the Russian hockey community, it sparks excitement to see one of the best Russian players taking on a new upcoming star.

With the Flyers not having a morning skate today, the exact lines are unsure, but the power play units will stay the same. John Tortorella confirmed yesterday that Sam Ersson gets the go-ahead on the net. It’s no surprise that Ersson is the best option for Philadelphia. Still, with players such as Tom Wilson, who leads Washington with five goals, and Dylan Strome, who already has seven points, there are some concerns about how the defense can handle this speedy team.

Eye on the enemy

The Washington Capitals are off to a hot 3-1-0 start. With wins over the Las Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars and an OT win against the Devils. Their lone loss comes from the Devils on opening night. With the Capitals being able to defeat some of the best teams out in the west, there is a talent deferential going against the struggling Flyers team.

Philadelphia’s lone win comes from their first game of the season against the Vancouver Canucks in OT. Despite the win against the Canucks on the season opener, things took a different turn at the Flyers’ home opener getting shutout 3-0.
