The Philadelphia Eagles have released their first injury report ahead of this weekend’s clash against the New York Giants and there is some slightly concerning news for Philly fans.

Eagles injury report: Wed Oct 16th 2024

3 players missed practice on Wednesday. We already knew that Jordan Mailata would be out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury, but he was joined on the ‘DNP’ list by Dallas Goedert, who could also miss a few weeks with a similar injury according to Jeff McLane. This does give Grant Calcaterra a shot at some more starting reps, while Fred Johnson will fill in for Mailata.

Milton Williams also missed practice today with an ankle setback. He has 1 sack and 2 QB hits on the season, playing in 46% of defensive snaps. His absence is bound to be felt, so look for guys like Moro Ojomo and Thomas Booker IV to pick up some extra snaps against the Giants.

Elsewhere on the injury report, Oren Burks, Jalyx Hunt, and Darius Slay, were all limited on Wednesday. We know Slay has picked up a minor knock but he should be good to play this weekend just as he was in the win over Cleveland.

Sydney Brown was among those still listed on the injury report, but was a full participant as he gears towards his eventual return. Ainias Smith and ‘Albert O’ were also both full participants, with Okwuegbunam potentially in-line to play a rotational role with Goedert now sidelined.

None of this is exactly ideal for an Eagles team that has stumbled out of the starting blocks. The Giants have the highest sack-percentage of any team in the NFL, so losing a franchise TE/LT is certainly going to play a huge role in this game. However, we’ve learned to never doubt Jeff Stoutland, and we all know that this Eagles team has enough talent on paper to blow most teams out of the water.
