Tonight, the Philadelphia 76ers face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a preseason matchup at a neutral location: the Wells Fargo Center Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. This game marks Paul George‘s debut with the Sixers; however, there is one slight complication: it will not be locally televised.
Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer was the first to report that George would be making his debut. Shortly thereafter, PHLY Sports’ Kyle Neubeck connected the dots for Sixers fans that George’s debut would not be locally televised.
Paul Hudrick of Liberty Ballers then reported that the game would not be televised either locally or nationally, which, considering further reporting, has since been confirmed, with some additional details being added to the equation.
On Pattison’s, Austin Krell reported that neither team will broadcast the game locally and that there would also not be a national broadcast. However, the in-arena feed will be available through NBA League Pass, but of course, it is not that simple. Per Krell, not all League Pass distributors will be able to take the feed of the game as it will be an in-arena feed, as opposed to a formal broadcast. The only distributor who is confirmed to be able to broadcast it is YouTube TV.
What does this mean for Sixers fans?
If you are without League Pass and need an alternative, understandably, it feels like you’re looking for a StreamEast of the Sun and West of the Moon, as it were. Unfortunately, to enjoy Paul George’s Sixers debut, it appears to be the only current option.
The good news is that you can try NBA League Pass now with a free seven day trial. The additional bad news is that, again, it is unconfirmed if signing up directly through LeaguePass will allow you to watch this game.
