As Nick Nurse addressed the media ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers‘ exhibition game, many wondered who might actually play for the Sixers. After spending a week in the Bahamas for training camp, the Sixers are set to begin the preseason, but they will do so without two key players.

When asked by Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports who was going to go in tonight’s matchup, Nurse announced that Joel Embiid and Paul George would not be taking the court, though he said he believed everyone else would take the court.

George had mentioned during training camp that he was unsure when he would debut with the team, signaling the possibility of him missing the matchup. Embiid, meanwhile, had a slow start to camp, and in an exhibition of all games, his absence is not a surprise either.

While preseason games matter, as the Philadelphia Eagles have shown us, missing tonight is not anything to be concerned about 76ers fans. It is not directly related to a known injury. By all accounts, it purely seems to be a precaution.

Tip-off is set for 7 P.M. and you can catch the game on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
