The formation of the 2024 Philadelphia Eagles roster is almost complete. With the 53-man group now assembled, all eyes turn to the Practice Squad. The Eagles will be looking to build a 16-player group to carry into the season, starting with potential waiver claims, and then some signings from a pool of players cut by all 32 teams in the NFL.
With waivers in mind, the Eagles sit 22nd, so finding some value on the waiver wire might be harder than expected for Howie Roseman, but he’s never been one to shy away from going heavy when assembling the group. Players like Cre’Von LeBlanc, Boston Scott, and Greg Ward had all been practice squad members at one point in time before their eventual breakouts. Who will be picked to join the team this year?

Latest Eagles practice squad updates
Eagles avoid making a waiver claim
The Eagles are usually prominent on the waiver wire, but not today. Picking 22nd (as they did in the Draft), the Eagles sat on their hands and watched other teams scramble to snatch players from their grasp.
The lottery for the remaining free agents is about to begin.
C Dylan McMahon
McMahon was a sixth-round pick for the Eagles in the 2024 NFL Draft. A necessary move to add more depth to the offensive line via the practice squad
S Andre’ Sam
Sam has found his way to the Eagles practice squad which was the expected move for the young safety.
TE E.J. Jenkins
Jenkins really stood out and some thought that he would be the Eagles TE2. Luckily the Birds were able to bring him back onto the Practice Squad. I wouldn’t doubt that he makes an NFL roster by the end of the season.
Eagles sign Nick Gates
In a slightly surprising move, the Eagles have signed former Commanders C Nick Gates. There was a glaring lack of depth at center this offseason, with Brett Toth struggling in the preseason and Tyler Steen shifting to guard to battle with Mekhi Becton. Help was needed, and they got it in the way of a 28-year-old with 37 starts under his belt.
Gates earned a PFF grade of 66.1 last year, giving up just 5 sacks in 641 snaps.
LB Oren Burks
Burks had an impressive showing for the Eagles during their preseason finale against the Vikings. Due to the limited action he saw during the training camp, Burks never really had a chance to completely showcase his talents. Now, he will stick around the team’s practice squad in hopes of reaching the main roster at some point this season.
QB Will Grier
Grier is familiar with the Kellen Moore system and could be necessary to keep around in case of an injury to either Pickett or McKee. It was interesting to see that he was very limited in action during their preseason games but Grier has found his way to stay in Philly.
WR Parris Campbell
Campbell was a lock to be the team’s WR3 up until the Eagles traded for Jahan Dotson of the Washington Commanders. A knee injury really put him behind the 8-ball as he missed most of camp but due to his familiarity with Nick Sirianni, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is elevated quite a few times then placed onto the main roster at some point.
TE Jack Stoll
Jack Stoll was the Eagles’ TE3 last season and was kept around due to his great blocking. The Eagles missed that this offseason as they had a crowded room of playmakers at tight end but not enough blockers. I would expect Stoll to find his way onto the 53-man roster once things get sorted out and finalized before September 6th. If not, the Eagles will absolutely elevate him quite a bit.
RB Tyrion Davis-Price
One of my favorite underdogs of this offseason was Tyrion Davis-Price. Davis-Price adds a nice wrinkle to the running back room with toughness and speed. He’s a big back that can definitely come in and wear defenses down. I’m not sure if he’ll survive on the Eagles’ practice squad as I would expect for someone to poach him. He had a costly fumble against the Vikings but was their leading rusher. I would be curious to see how his raw talent develops in the NFL.
DT Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall is a steal for the Eagles. He was waived by the Eagles on Tuesday and didn’t get to do too much with the team due to a hamstring injury this offseason. The rookie was signed by the Eagles as a UDFA after the 2024 NFL Draft and could honestly have a promising role in the future with the team.
WR Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
The former Georgia wideout was released by the Commandrs as cuts started to wind down on Tuesday afternoon. Roseman-Jacksaint is a very raw talent that can develop into a decent wideout if he can polish his game sooner rather than later. He had his best year in Georgia last season as he tallied 535 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
LB Brandon Smith
The former Penn State product returns for his second stint with the Eagles. The former fourth-round pick of the Carolina Panthers has played in a total of 14 games in his young career. He has yet make the necessary impact that’s expected out of a talent like his but the Eagles see could see something developing within him. He could be a big special teams contributor if the team chooses to elevate him.
S Caden Sterns
Sterns was released by the Broncos and signed by the Eagles shortly after. He’s shown his potential when on the field but the issue has been his ability to stay healthy. If he can find a way to stay healthy then Sterns would be great depth to have in the Safety room. He’s a talented defensive back that can really make a difference for any team.
OL Laekin Vakalahi
Vakalahi could be Jordan Mailata 2.0. He’s never played a down in the NFL until the preseason finale against the Vikings. Vakalahi is a very raw talent that the Eagles will invest in developing in hopes that he can catch on like Jordan once did. The Eagles are one for one in developing players with raw talent like this. Can Vakalahi make them two for two?
