The Philadelphia Eagles made a minor roster move ahead of Wednesday’s Training Camp practice, parting ways with C.J Uzomah and bringing in some offensive line depth in the way of Jason Poe. This move might seem fairly subtle on the surface, but the ripple effect could be substantial.
Eagles make a minor roster move
The Eagles have lacked sufficient tight end depth for a few years now and the addition of C.J Uzomah was believed to at least provide a band-aid. The former Jets’ pass-catcher brought the same kind of experience and skillset as Richard Rodgers once did, but a quiet Summer and a preseason where he was near-invisible at times hardly instilled confidence.
Meanwhile, Grant Calcaterra provided fans with a few flashes and underdog E.J Jenkins (another former Jet) burst out of the gates against the Patriots with a 47-yard game. The former collegiate wideout appears to have settled nicely into Philadelphia and his sudden growth might have bumped him up the depth chart into a push for the TE3 spot – something potentially reflected by this move.
The corresponding signing was Jason Poe – a name familiar to the Eagle-eyed fans among us. Poe previously spent a stint with Philly before being waived earlier in the month having previously played for both the Jets and 49ers’ practice squads. A lot of Jets connections here.
