The 2024 Summer Olympic Games are almost here, and the team that will represent the United States in the tournament has officially been announced. The United States has been placed in Group A, along with hosts France, New Zealand, and Guinea. The Americans will be looking for their first gold medal in nation history, with their best recent performance coming in 2000, when they fell in the bronze medal match to Chile.
In fact, this will be the first time that they have participated in the Olympic Games since 2008, when they did not advance out of the group stage. They will be looking to advance and do more this year, as soccer looks to continue to grow in the United States.
The 18-Man Olympic Roster
Manager Marko Mitrovic selected an 18-man roster for the Olympic Games, and it goes as follows:
Goalkeepers – Patrick Schulte (Columbus Crew), Gaga Slonina (Chelsea)
Defenders – Maximilian Dietz (Greuther Furth), Nathan Harriel (Philadelphia Union), Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati), John Tolkin (NY Red Bulls), Caleb Wiley (Atlanta United), Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC)
Midfielders – Gianluca Busio (Venezia), Benjamin Cremaschi (Inter Miami), Jack McGlynn (Philadelphia Union), Djordje Mihailovic (Colorado Rapids), Tanner Tessman (Venezia)

Two Union Players Selected
Two players from the Philadelphia Union were selected to the 18-man roster Olympic roster, as Nathan Harriel and Jack McGlynn are getting the chance to represent their country on the big stage. Both players have been important parts of the Union Starting XI this season, and definitely do deserve their call-ups.
McGlynn has played in 21 matches, scoring three goals and providing three assists so far this season. He has provided lots of chances for his Union side, and also growing as a defender as well, showing his development as a player.
Nate Harriel has established himself as Jim Curtin’s main right-back for the Union, showcasing the talent that he has as a defender. Harriel has also proven that he has the ability to score, jumping high on a few corners and all. It will be exciting to watch both of them on the international stage, as they look to bring home the Gold medal for the first time for Men’s United States Soccer.
