Daryl Morey and the Sixers are working overtime! As expected, the Sixers, Rich Paul, and Tyrese Maxey have agreed to a five-year $204 million max rookie extension to stay with the franchise for the foreseeable future.

The young all-star guard has cashed in on a much-deserved extension a year after the Sixers asked him to wait while they try to maximize their cap space this summer.

Maxey became an all-star last season and solidified himself as a top-25 player in the NBA. Since being drafted in 2020, Maxey has improved every year, transforming into a legitimate scoring guard in the league. He averaged 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game last season and took a major leap in development, becoming the co-star Embiid has needed all along.

According to NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, this deal doesn’t have any opt-outs and is fully guaranteed. This is a testament to Maxey’s desire to be here long-term and his commitment to the city of Philadelphia and the Sixers’ organization.

The organization has shown its commitment to Maxey with this fully guaranteed new deal and the belief that he will continue to improve and be a major star in the coming years. Good things happen to good people, and this will be an excellent pairing for years to come.
