EURO 2024: With the group stage now behind us, all eyes turn to the final 16 teams who will compete int the first round of the knockout stage. EURO 2024: Analysis
Believe it or not, England are still the favorites to win the EURO 2024 tournament. They opened the competition at +300 and although their odds have drifted to +425, they’re still the leading team according to Vegas, which is surprising given their form so far.
The Three Lions massively underwhelmed during the group stage. They were held to a goalless draw against Slovenia in what should’ve been an easy win and were unable to beat Denmark either. However, they have a reputation for growing into tournaments under Gareth Southgate and still boast the most expensive team in the entire tournament, with a total value of over £1.2bn! The last time England won a major tournament was 1966 and although they were runners-up here last time out, they’re going to need to drastically improve to keep up with the likes of Germany and Spain who have ripped through their opponents with ease so far.
Spain has seen one of the biggest jumps in price. They opened the tournament at +700 and after a dominant group stage, La Roja is now priced at +450. They’ve looked as complete as any team in the tournament and are going to be feared as a result.
Germany and France are two other teams worth backing. The host nation, Germany, has been nothing short of clinical so far, scoring more goals than any other team in the EURO 2024 group stage, and it’s not like their group was a cakewalk either. As for France, Kylian Mbappe’s return was met with adulation as he scored a crucial penalty last time out. They failed to top their group thanks to an incredible win for Austria, but France can never be overlooked thanks to their experience and consistent success in this competition.

As far as underdogs go, one name stands out – Austria. Their stunning win over the Netherlands not only inspired a ton of hope for the nation, but ensured they topped a group for the first time in tournament history. A narrow opening loss to France was avenged by two explosive victories over the Netherlands and Poland – two sides who boast plenty of tournament prowess. While they will still be huge underdogs as the difficulty of opponent only increases, they’ve proven they can hang with some of the best players in the world and will be riding a real wave of confidence now.
