Phillies vs Tigers: The Pitching Matchup
Ranger Suarez (10-1, 1.75 ERA) vs Tarik Skubal (8-3, 2.50 ERA)
This is likely the best pitching matchup of the series right here. Starting with Detroit, Skubal is having a strong year. His 105 strikeouts over 90 innings pitched places him among the top in the league in strikeouts while his 2.50 ERA places him seventh among qualifying pitchers. Skubal is coming off a poor start, however, against the Atlanta Braves, where he only lasted four innings while allowing five runs (four earned).
Ranger Saurez, the active ERA leader across Major League Baseball, will get the start against Skubal for the Phillies. Suarez has posted elite production all season for the Phillies and currently owns a 1.77 ERA over four starts in the month of June. Suarez hasn’t allowed more than two runs in a start since May 26th and has only done so thrice this season in general. A breakout player this season, Suarez just might be a lock for his first All-Star Game selection this season.

With Ranger Suarez on the mound, it is hard to go against the Phillies right now. Skubal is nothing to sneeze at on the other end of this coin, but the Phillies’ offense more than compensates for any doubt you may have. Go for the Phillies today.
