The group stage of the EURO 2024 Championship is nearing a close. Saturday will see teams in groups E & F play their second games, looking to cement their places in the knockout phase of the competition. Here is all you need to know about Saturday’s fixtures from a betting perspective.

Georgia put up a valiant fight in their first ever European Championship game against Turkey and now face a Czech Republic side with a lot to do after a 2-1 loss to Portugal. Getting out of the group is now that much harder for a side long associated with this competition, and a win against the tournament debutants is now pivotal.
In terms of how the teams lineup, there is a clear favorite here. Czechia are a ream rich with attacking prowess, featuring the likes of Patrik Schick up front along with West Ham’s Soucek and Coufal, who are bound to cause problem for a Georgia side lacking a lot of talent on the attacking end.
With that said, Georgia were quick on the break against Turkey and showed plenty of promise. The squad might lack big names, but the unity on the pitch is unmatched and players like Kvaratskhelia will have to be monitored closely.
Czechia should be the easy winners here. They’re defensively stout and play very structured football which should frustrate a Georgian side looking to feed off scraps that won’t be handed out as frequently as they were against a more free-flowing Turkish side.
Patrik Schick is +170 to score anytime and is yet to open his account this tournament, i don’t mind adding him into a bet builder here.

A really exciting matchup on paper, Turkey and Portugal sit tied at the top of group F after winning their opening games and a win for either side will see them safely through to the knockout stage.
Portugal’s start was a winning one, but it came from a stoppage time goal courtesy of Conceicao. Czechia went 1-0 up before an OG minutes later and a 92nd minute winner, and although Portugal dominated possession and took 17 shots to Czechia’s 5, they cannot afford to be left vulnerable on the counter as they were last time out.
As for Turkey, wonderkid Arda Guler was under the spotlight in the opener will be once more against a side as strong as Portugal.
This promises to be exhilarating viewing, so I’ll be backing the over 1.5 goals market as a result. Turkey have found the back of the net consistently in international tournaments, whereas Portugal have conceded in 5 of their last 6 games. Both teams possess plenty of talent up-front and we could well see a myriad of goals as a result.
Belgium vs Romania

A real marquee matchup in every sense of the word, Spain and Italy lock horns in a clash of Titans on Thursday.
Belgium stunningly lost their opening fixture to Slovakia and were unable to get back into the game after an early strike from Schranz. Despite having 16 shots, only 5 found the target, and they were unable to dominate possession as they arguably should’ve with a team that strong.
This should inspire confidence for a Romanian side who will be high on confidence after smashing 3 past Ukraine in their opening game. While they’re still huge underdogs here, there is reason to believe that the confidence the team will have is perfect to attack a potentially vulnerable Belgian side, who continue to underwhelm despite their embarrassment of riches on the pitch.
As far as betting goes, I actually like betting Romania +1.5 at -175. They’ve proven their salt in front of goal and know that one more upset and they shock the world by qualifying for the knockout stage. I like that sentiment against a Belgian side that can never seem to get it all together.
