Another mid-week MLS Next Pro gameday is in store for Marlon LeBlanc’s Union II team as they head on down to Carolina to face Crown Legacy this Thursday night.
Union II @ Cown Legacy Preview
Union II will be looking at starting a new unbeaten streak after their previous one was broken by a visiting FC Cincinnati 2 side last Thursday evening. Marlon LeBlanc’s side had only lost one other game this season before the loss against Cincy, and that first loss was to the same opponents just away from home.
Union II really missed the offensive talents of both CJ Olney and David Vazquez, with the pair representing the USA at the youth level, and struggled to break through a tough and well-coached Cincy 2. Substitutes played a big part in the game, with both Moises Tablante and Kenji Mboma Dem combining twice to sink Union II 2-0.
With both Vazquez and Olney back from international duty, and many others that were away for graduation and other things, LeBlanc will have a much easier time with his team selection compared to the last few games. It should also mean the team is up to full strength outside of a couple of injury issues in midfield.
A look at Crown Legacy
Crown Legacy has struggled compared to how well they did last season. The Carolina side was at a top of the Eastern Conference standings last year, but they already have as many losses right now as they did throughout the whole of last season.
While the team hasn’t hit the ground running like they did last year, they’re still a force to be reckoned with. Just like Union II, they have a lot of players contributing to the team, with nine different goalscorers already this season. Aron John has been in great form for the team recently and Cam Duke has been a great creative maestro for the side throughout the season.
Crown Legacy is coming off the back of a truly insane game and defeat against Huntsville City FC. Legacy found themselves 2-0 down after the early stages of the match, before fighting back into the game 2-2 after 60 minutes, just to have that fight back wasted after conceding two late goals and losing the game 4-2.
Tune in to see if Union II can get back to winning ways!
The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 pm ET at the Sportsplex at Matthews in Carolina. The game will be streamed to viewers on Apple TV, you will need an active MLS Season Pass subscription to watch the game.
