Taijuan Walker (3-1, 5.73 ERA) vs Jose Quintana (1-5, 5.17 ERA)
After Ranger Suarez was able to methodically manage his way to another impressive win, Taijuan Walker will step up to the mound in game 2 against his former team. Walker is trying to get back to his best after a Spring Training injury scare and told me on Saturday that his aim for the rest of the year is to pitch in the postseason for the first time since 2017 and perform at the same level as his teammates. That all starts today.
Walker has interestingly struck out 4+ in 6 of 8 games this season. It could be something worth lookin at when exploring pitching props.
Across from the 31-year-old will be Jose Quintana. His ERA is skewed after allowing 8 runs in 2 innings against the Rays at the start of May, but he’s now allowed 3 or fewer runs in each of his last 4. The main worry here is that he isn’t the best at striking opposing batters out, which is lethal news considering how potent this Phillies’ offense has been and the type of stadium they’ll be playing in.

The Phillies are favored to win the closing game of this series and with good reason. The team is now 4-1 against New York this season and last night showed exactly why. Even when the pitching is off, it’s on, and it only takes one spark for this offense to ignite. I do like the Phillies outright here, but I also like the spread of 11. It only narrowly missed covering yesterday and with two ‘weaker’ pitchers on the mound, this could be the offensive outburst fans have been waiting for.

We cashed in on Bryce Harper to hit a home-run yesterday and I feel like there are more where that came from. I’m going to ride Nick Castellanos at +400 after he homered yesterday. His price is a little more appealing than Bryce Harper’s, but he’s now homered in back-to-back games and could be eyeing a third.
