Another clash of pitchers who have enjoyed great starts to the new season pits Spencer Turnbull and Tyler Anderson against each other. Turnbull is coming off of a solid outing against the Reds where he gave up just 1 run and 3 hits through 5 innings, striking out a season-high 8 batters. He has struck out 6+ in all but one game this season, so there could be some value on that prop.
Across from Turnbull will be Tyler Anderson, who has not only been strong, but durable. He’s gone 7 innings 3 times this season and has only allowed 7 runs in 30 innings pitched. He’s also given up just 19 hits in that span, displaying some fantastic control in the process. Stopping the Phillies is no easy task, but Anderson certainly has the tools to thwart a team of red-hot bats.

The Phillies might have snapped a four-game winning streak last night, but it wasn’t for the want of trying. They put up another 5 runs and now rank 5th in total batting average this season. If the Phillies can tire out Tyler Anderson and expose a bullpen that has leaked plenty of runs this season, there’s no reason why Philadelphia can’t get back to winning ways, but that first part is going to be pivotal. If Anderson can go 5+ innings and keep Philadelphia relatively quiet, this could be a surprisingly low-scoring game.
Given that both pitchers have started out well, I’m going to take a slightly inflated UNDER 9 runs tonight.

I hate to bet against Alec Bohm, but he’s now riding a 13-game hit streak which is now the longest active streak in all of Baseball. Tyler Anderson is no slouch and all good things must come to an end. Because he’s been so good recently, his under 0.5 hit prop is actually +195 which is some strong value. I don’t mind flirting with that here.
