Phillies vs Reds: The Phillies tore the house down last night in a 7-0 rout over the Reds. Ranger Suarez pitched a second consecutive shutout and has now thrown 25 scoreless innings in a row. The offense caught fire and now the team is riding a nine-game streak into tonight’s contest. Can they extend that to 10 this evening?

Phillies vs Reds: Pitching preview

Christopher Sanchez (1-2, 2.53 ERA) vs Andrew Abbott (1-2, 2.70 ERA)

This promises to be another fun pitching matchup. Sanchez has been a pleasant surprise for the Phils this season. He’s averaged 5.3 innings per game through his opening 3 and faces a Reds team that has struggled to record consistent hits. This bodes well for the 24-year-old, who is yet to give up more than 3 runs in a start this season. He’s also pitched 6 innings in both of his most recent appearances, giving up just one hit against the Reds in his most recent effort. He should be in good stead to keep things stable against the Reds.

Across from Sanchez will be Andrew Abbott, who has been similarly strong so far in 2024. While he has struggled to strikeout consistently, with only 3 coming in his win against the White Sox, he’s been able to limit damage. Abbott has only given up 7 runs in 23 innings pitched this season and will have a tough night at the plate trying to keep the Phillies quiet.

Phillies vs White Sox: Betting preview

The Phillies are firing on all cylinders offensively. Over their last 6 games, they’ve recorded 43 runs and are showing no signs of slowing down. With a rotation that looks almost invincible at times, it’s hard to imagine the Reds being able to get one over on Philadelphia here. I like the Phillies outright in this game.

Betting pick: Phillies -125

Prop bet fun

Betting pick: OVER 8 runs.

The Reds offense is boom or bust at the moment, but one consistent contributor to note is Elly De La Cruz, who was riding a 4-game run streak prior to yesterday’s loss to Philly and leads the Reds in Home Runs. He’s -150 to record a hit tonight and +650 to clear the fences. I don’t mind taking a swing on the eccentric infielder.

From the Phillies’ side of things, Bryson Stott has recorded a run in back-to-back games and has 15 hits on the season. He’s -195 to record a hit this evening.
