Phillies vs Rockies: The Phils split their most recent series against the Pirates and will look to build on that against a Rockies team that have only mustered 4 wins out of their opening 16 games. This is the perfect spot for the Phillies to register their first sweep of the season, but it all starts with a win tonight. Can they get it done?

Phillies vs Rockies: Pitching preview
Aaron Nola (2-1, 4.50 ERA) vs Cal Quantrill (0-2, 7.20 ERA)
Aaron Nola kicks off this series after going 6 innings against the Cardinals last time out. He had a dreadful start to the season, giving up 11 hits and 7 runs against the Braves, but has gotten better in each start since. He’ll be hoping that trend continues against a Rockies side that ranks 11th in batting average and 9th in hits. While the Rockies have struggled this season, it’s not for a lack of offensive production.
Across from Nola will be Cal Quantrill, who has struggled mightily this season. He’s been dinged for 8+ runs in 2 of his first 3 starts and has allowed 4 homers. If there is ever an offense to take advantage of a struggling pitcher, it’s this one.
Phillies vs Rockies: Betting preview
The Phillies are yet to really get hot offensively. There have been single-game bursts of production, but we’re yet to see a sustained rally and this is the perfect team to ignite that breakout against. The Rockies rank dead last when it comes to ERA and runs allowed. They’re bleeding runs at an alarming rate and that’s music to the ears of players like Bryce Harper, who maintains a .190 batting average this season.
Harper could be an ideal candidate to bet behind. He’s priced at +250 to record a home run tonight and -260 to record a hit. Both of these should present some reasonable value for bettors.
Alec Bohm should also be a popular pick in parlays. He’s batting .236 this season but was riding a four-game hit streak into the second game of the Pirates series. He’s been a consistent contributor this season and this series should be no different.
From a game-line perspective, Nola’s struggles have to be noted and the Phils round out at about league average in most pitching/defense metrics. With a sloppy Colorado pitching staff and an inconsistent Aaron Nola at the helm, this game has double digits written all over it, so taking the OVER here makes a ton of sense.
