The NBA’s reigning MVP, Joel Embiid, returned to action on Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder after missing the last 29 games. Not only did he return to the court, but he returned with a new shoe deal, signing with footwear brand Skechers, per NBA Insiders at The Athletic. This is the third sneaker deal of the Philadelphia 76ers superstar’s career; he was previously endorsed by Adidas and Under Armour.
In Embiid, Skechers has the face of their franchise
Embiid signed a multi-year endorsement deal with the shoe retailer and will become the face of the brand’s basketball division. Skechers now ventures into the basketball space for the first time and has added the superstar center to a roster that includes New York Knicks’ All-Star Julius Randle and Los Angeles Clippers’ Terrance Mann.
With Embiid’s commitment to an upcoming brand, there could be a chance he gets a signature shoe, which would be the second of his career (UA Embiid One). With one of the stars of the NBA returning to the court, more eyes will be on Skechers Basketball.
