Bryce Harper Hits a Milestone and 3 Home Runs Against the Reds

On May 6, 2015, Bryce Harper hit 3 homers against the Washington Nationals. Tom Koehler of the Marlins surrendered all 3 of the long balls.

It was the first 3-homer game of his career. At the end of that game, Harper had 231 career runs scored.

On April 2, 2024, Bryce Harper has his 2nd career 3-homer game. He hit 2 off of starter Graham Ashcraft and 1 off of left reliever Brent Suter (no relation to HoFer Bruce). At the end of the game, he has 1001 career runs scored.

In the 4th inning, Harp recorded his 1000th run scored on his second homer.

It seems as though Bryce Harper has a flair for the dramatic when he hits milestones. His 300th homer was a go-ahead 2-run shot against the Angels and both his 1000th and 1500th hits were home runs.

Harper becomes the 8th active player to have 1000 runs scored.

Harper’s Place In Team History

The 3-homer game is the first since Bamboo Brad Miller in 2021 and it is the first in Citizens Bank Park since Jayson Werth in 2008.

The former MVP did this all while it was misting all night and he came into the night 0-11 to start the season. He opened the day with a .154 OPS and closed it with a 1.094 OPS.

If Harper’s swing is back in order, we might see him get red hot just like he did after his first 3-homer game. In his next 5 games, Harper hit .526 with a 1.854 OPS and 4 home runs.

Bryce’s historic night led the Phillies to a 9-4 victory over the Reds. The Phillies are now 2-3 on the season. After the finale against the Reds, the Phillies travel to Washington for a 3-game set.

When asked what he would remember in 20 years about this game, the Phillies’ captain said “Hopefully this is the start of us winning one”.

This could be the beginning of a special season for Bryce Harper and the Phillies.
