One of the biggest decisions facing Howie Roseman this offseason concerns the future of Eagles DE Brandon Graham. As of right now, he’s set to hit free agency, but the whispers surrounding a potential return have only gotten louder as the weeks have gone by.

Brandon Graham returning to the Eagles in 2024?

A few hints of a potential reunion have been dropped over the last couple of days. Jake Rabadi of The Liberty Line reported that BG will indeed be returning to the Eagles next year. Ian Rapoport then somehow found the report and clarified it with a grounding statement that nothing is concrete just yet, although interest is mutual.

Brandon Graham then appeared on WIP to open up about his future, stating that he plans to be with the Eagles in 2024 and is in the middle of trying to find a contract that works for both the Eagles and himself.

It certainly seems as though Brandon Graham will be playing for the Eagles in 2024, which will be a relief to many.

He only played in 34% of defensive snaps last year so being brought back in a rotational role seems to be the most likely outcome. He’s 35 years old now and has been an Eagle for his entire 13-year career. Even if he does play in a rotational role, having his leadership and charisma around the locker room would be a huge benefit to an Eagles team that has already bid goodbye to one legend this offseason in Jason Kelce.

BG can still play solidly too. He had 3 sacks and 6 QB hits in 2023 and while that’s a far cry from his very best, he was playing in a new defense and in a reduced role in comparison to his 11-sack campaign in 2022.

Should the Eagles bring him back?

The Eagles might be revamping the EDGE position this offseason, and bringing back BG on a short-term deal that’s cost-effective would give them a serviceable player who can bridge the gap while the new blood gets up to speed. Those younger players would also get the chance to learn from one of the best to ever suit up at the position in Philadelphia.

There are still a few days between now and the start of free agency, so plenty of time to get a deal done. Let’s hope that Brandon Graham gets one last rodeo in Philadelphia because seeing him suit up for another team would feel emotionally conflicting on so many levels.
