Already on a three-game win streak, including one on the road against the Florida Panthers, the Philadelphia Flyers (28-19-6) can sweep their home stand at the Wells Fargo Center. A competitive pace and playing with energy for three periods is a requirement demanded by John Tortorella to find a consistent groove:
“We know how we have to play. The biggest thing is, can we do it consistently? I thought we started the game really well. [It’s] two games that we’ve scored the first goal, which is really important for energy. If we’re not all on that energy ride, as far as playing on our toes, we’ll struggle. The biggest thing is we have got to be ready to play forward-north, check forward, [and] take chances that way for us to be competitive.”
John Tortorella; 2/10/2024
On Saturday, the Flyers defeated the Seattle Kraken. Cal Petersen stepped into his first start since November 2022 and improved his season record to 2-1-0. Sam Ersson will start tonight as the Arizona Coyotes (23-23-4) visit Philadelphia.
This season, the Flyers lead the series versus the Coyotes, 1-0-0.
Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes are 0-4-1 in their last five games. They dropped their latest in overtime against the Nashville Predators.
Nick Schmaltz totaled three points (1G, 2A) over his last five games. He scored a powerplay goal that put Arizona up, 4-2, in the third period against the Predators, but Nashville completely recovered within six minutes. Schmaltz did not get on the score sheet versus the Flyers earlier this season and turned the puck over five times, struggling hard against the defensive presence of Scott Laughton, Morgan Frost, and Nick Seeler.
Here’s the tentative lineup for the Arizona Coyotes:
Keller-McBain-Schmaltz
Maccelli-Bjugstad-Crouse
Cooley-Hayton-Guenther
Kerfoot-Ruzicka-Zucker
Moser-Durzi
Dermott-Dumba
Valimaki-Kesselring

Philadelphia Flyers
After the highs and lows of the NHL All-Star Break, the Flyers seemingly collected themselves before mightily braving forward. Philadelphia is 3-2-0 in their last five games, including their win versus the Kraken.
Cam Atkinson hasn’t contributed to the score sheet as of late, but is notable on the ice. He took two shots on goal, including a backhanded chance in the first period, along with placing a hit, nabbing a takeaway, and blocking a shot. Earlier this season, Atkinson set Joel Farabee up with the game-winner against the Coyotes in the first period, a cross-ice dunk on Connor Ingram.
Here’s the tentative lineup for the Philadelphia Flyers, per Kevin Durso:
Tippett-Couturier-Konecny
Farabee-Frost-Atkinson
Deslauriers-Poehling-Cates
Lycksell-Laughton-Hathaway
Sanheim-Ristolainen
York-Drysdale
Seeler-Walker
