The Philadelphia Eagles have endured a rollercoaster season and offensive coordinator Brian Johnson has come under consistent fire as a result. Somehow, the Carolina Panthers appear to have avoided hearing about all the noise and have requested an interview with the Eagles’ coordinator.

Panthers hone in on Brian Johnson

On the surface, I guess it makes sense. Brian Johnson helped spearhead the development of Jalen Hurts from underdog to a $255m man in the space of one season as his QB coach, and has spent a year working with some of the best players in the NFL. Given that the Panthers are really struggling to get the most out of their own starlet quarterback and are dwelling in the doldrums of the NFC South, it’s logical for them to target a QB-minded coach.

The Eagles do still somehow rank 8th in the NFL in yards per game. They’re in the playoffs. A.J Brown went on a historic midseason tear, and D’Andre Swift ripped through the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career.

Should the Panthers sign the Eagles’ offensive coordinator?

However, Johnson has also been constantly criticized for a vanilla scheme, a lack of adaptation during games, and confusing play calls that only seem to hinder the offense. He is a young coach, so teething problems were always to be expected, but after a season of the same issues, many Eagles fans have grown tired of how boring and uncoordinated the offense has become.

Should Carolina hire Brian Johnson? Absolutely. Do it now.

Sorry, I mean..nooooo no don’t do that he’s amazing and I wish he was Philly’s offensive coordinator for another decade!
